Finibanco

Founded in 1993, Finibanco S.A. is a small Portuguese bank with 172 branches (2008 ye). Finibanco S.A. is part of Finibanco Group (recently acquired by Montepio Group). Finibanco Group is a Portuguese financial group which encompasses, a bank (Finibanco, S.A.), an Angolan bank (Finibanco Angola, S.A.), a credit financial institution (Finicrédito, Instituição Financeira de Crédito, S.A.) and an asset management company (Finivalor – Sociedade Gestora de Fundos Mobiliários, S.A.) . In 2010 Group Montepio successfully concluded a take-over bid for the total share capital of Finibanco Holding SGPS (Finibanco Group's ultimate holding). In the present Montepio owns nearly 100% of Finibanco Group and a merger between Montepio (a bank owned by Montepio Geral Associação Mutualista) and Finibanco S.A. is expected at short term. http://www.finibanco.pt
