Summary

I'm a lifelong lover of technology with a passion for building, growing and managing teams and companies. I'm fortunate to have been early at five startups that created great products, employment and economic value. I was sobered by the sixth, that taught me that everyone has limits to what they can achieve. Then I enjoyed seven years of helping and nurturing early-stage technology startups as a VC. After that, for four years, I was back in an operational exec role, based in North Carolina but working for a European public company. While I planned to take some time off starting in 2013, that didn't happen: my addiction to startups occupied much of my time, as an active angel and VC investor in the Raleigh NC Triangle area while also working at a local tech commercialization firm on an optical communications technology and a space-launch project. In 2016, that startup addiction led to going back to a full-time exec role. #7. Rock on. Now I'm retired while still following the local startup scene. In the words of that storied philosopher, Mick Jagger, "Don't Fade Away" or, if you do, do it gradually.
