Summary
I'm Co-Founder, CEO, and Principal Consultant & Strategist at Atelier Tomorrow Inc., an Arizona nonprofit technology-policy consultancy serving the nonprofit and public sectors. With over 20 years of experience in futuristics, state and national policymaking, scenario planning, and trend analysis, I help clients envision and create innovative solutions for social and environmental challenges, using emerging technologies such as extended reality (XR), artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain. My mission is to foster citizen engagement, regional innovation, and economic prosperity in the Arizona Borderlands and beyond, through collaborative projects that leverage the potential of XR and other digital platforms. Currently, I'm exploring opportunities to develop in the Borderlands the Patagonia Institute, a proposed XR-industry based R&D and educational enterprise that aims to be an engine of regional innovation and development. Also, I've begun the process of qualifying for, joining, and working within the newly-created US Economic Recover Corps. Earlier, I was a charter member and conference host of The WELL, the world's first and best public online community, where I managed two online conversations on virtual worlds and futuristics. Later, as its cofounder and associate director, I founded and co-managed (with Mark Deloura, now a global tech and design authority in his own right, the groundbreaking USENET newsgroup, sci.virtual-worlds. In it we coined the term virtual world, and wrote extensively about "spatial computing" (a term I devised) and "design thinking" (the same). I welcome good conversations with old colleagues and new friends. -- Robert Jacobson, Ph.D., Co-Founder & Principal, Atelier Tomorrow Inc., PO Box 222, Patagonia, AZ 85624 • Phone: +1 (520) 370-1259 text & calls • Email: bobjacobson.earth@gmail.com (read less frequently)
