I’ve worked in senior roles now in three disparate industries – enterprise software, power generation, and the latest, fine wine. I’m a curious guy, and the challenge of stepping inside a new vertical, learning everything about it, applying everything I know, and managing towards a successful outcome invigorates me. With a Berkeley engineering degree and comprehensive practice in the discipline, I think like an engineer. Take a problem, define it, evaluate solutions, pick one and go – prototype, test, adjust, repeat if necessary, then launch. In consulting with Fortune 500 businesses and creating products, I talk with customers as much as possible - engage them, listen to their problems, and get out in front with a vision and a solution. Make that solution easy to use, help customers to embrace it, fix it fast if it breaks, and your customers will help sell it with their endorsements. With experience now building a consumer brand, I found you need a really good story behind your product, and authenticity in telling it. Find the key thing consumers can love about your product, and talk about it clearly, passionately, and frequently. Engage your consumers through your sales channels with creative marketing that resonates with their aspirations.
