Summary

Hi! I'm a bilingual Japanese-American product-focused software engineer and technology leader, based in New York and working for M3, a global healthcare technology company. As a software developer, I strive to deeply understand product, customer, and business needs and find ways to meet those needs by building simple, adaptable systems using the best technologies available. I'm always on the lookout for new ways to build better, less, or nothing (i.e. low-code solutions) when that will solve the problem. As a technology leader, I love to build collaborative, empowered teams that can creatively devise their own high-impact, high-ROI solutions, using my broad experience and ability to pick up new things quickly to fill in the gaps as needed. At M3 in Japan, I grew an international team of engineers, QA, IT, and product professionals from 5 to 100+, and created a culture valuing autonomy, teamwork, attention to detail, and adaptability. While being part of the executive management in Japan was an amazing experience from which I learned a great many things (from lean product development to program management to security and compliance to infrastructure and operations to budgeting and recruiting), I love working hands-on with software in a small team most of all. Recently I spend my days writing and reviewing code, leading a small team of developers rebuilding MDLinx, M3's platform for US healthcare professionals, migrating from a monolithic legacy system to a microservice-based, cloud-native platform using React, GraphQL, NextJS, Typescript, and Python. We have a great team of motivated, enthusiastic developers and problem solvers who I enjoy both mentoring and learning from immensely. My biggest interest and driving motivator is my family. I have two kids, a 13-year old daughter and an 8-year old son, that drive me to be the best that I can be. My daughter has Down syndrome and is a leukemia survivor, so I want to help make the world a better place for her and others like her, and have been an active volunteer in Down syndrome organizations. If something in the above strikes a chord please reach out and connect!
