Most recently Valerie was CMO at Plume, the company reinventing our relationship to connected living at home, and for small businesses. Previously, as CMO of Consumer at Palo Alto Networks, she let the marketing team developing a cybersecurity hardware subscription designed for the home user. As CMO of Drop, an enthusiast-focused consumer product company, Valerie launched the brand and built the marketing team. At 3D manufacturing startup Carbon, Valerie built and led the marketing team that launched the brand, the company's first commercial products, as well as the ground-breaking marketing partnership with adidas' Futurecraft 4D sneaker. Prior, she led marketing for North America for Microsoft Mobile Devices, owning marketing functions & brand strategy; and launched the company's first Microsoft-branded mobile devices. Previously, as Head of Marketing for Nokia North America, she relaunched the Nokia brand in the USA & Canada; ran consumer & B2B marketing; and launched 30+ products. Valerie has deep experience building & inspiring marketing teams, and marketing a portfolio of products -- combining brand strategy & product launches with 360 integrated marketing. Valerie has worked in a variety of roles including global brand at Nokia's Developer division, where she relaunched and managed global brand strategy for one of the world’s largest developer organizations, Nokia Developer. In Nokia's Corporate Strategy team, she handled software ecosystem marketing. As a Principal with Nokia Ventures, she was responsible for investments for the early stage group, Innovent. She has worked in Silicon Valley start-ups; including co-founding a venture-backed privacy software company. Valerie started her career in high tech with roles in design at Paramount Digital Entertainment and business development at Motorola. A native of Canada, Valerie holds an an MBA from the University of Victoria, an MFA in Intermedia from the University of British Columbia; and a Diploma in Painting from the Alberta College of Art.
