Summary
Paul founded OnQ in 2004 and has been a driving force in improving the way complex new technologies are launched and presented in stores ever since. In 2014, he also co-founded sister company Converge Retail to address the gap between in-store and online retail with software and hardware. Prior to founding his companies, Paul directed retail channel marketing for several leading brands, including Logitech, Adobe, Gillette and Kodak. At Gillette, Paul managed the design and production of over 250,000 permanent and temporary displays. At Logitech, he led retail initiatives that brought category management to the tech sector. If you’ve ever purchased mice, keyboards, PC speakers, headphones, or web-cameras in any major retailer in North America, odds are it was on one his displays. A Burning Man enthusiast, public speaker, runner, chef, dedicated husband and the proud father of two insanely high-energy boys, Paul credits the success of his businesses to the culture of creativity they foster and his own success to the company he keeps—”It is the sum total of the people around you who make you,” he says. Earlier in his life, he founded a company that designed and built rustic patio furniture, directed marketing for a rock radio station and spent some time as a professional stilt walker in a circus troupe—a job he says is surprisingly similar to his work as a CEO. Paul takes pride in the fact that his California design center solves problems for brands during the week and is the hub for parties and events on the weekends—for example, the Woodside Soapbox Derby, which he runs for his community of Woodside California. Paul holds a degree in philosophy and sociology from the University of Saskatchewan; he also studied at the Université Laval in Quebec City and the Université de Montpellier in the south of France.
