Based in San Francisco 5/2000 - 9/2011, Basel, Switzerland 10/2011 - 07/2019 and Concord, MA 9/2019-6/2021. I was responsible for business generation as well as project execution and delivery at my consultancy FiN-S Food (finesse food). For clients launching new products or brands, I often accepted operational responsibilities within the client company until a qualified permanent employee was justified and available. The following is a representative sample of client engagements: Baked Goods and Fruit Preserves: * Held dual role of Finance Director and Business Manager at a Basel bakery from January 2018 through July 2019 when I returned to the US. Led company to first full year operating profit in 2018. * From August through December 2017, returned bakery to profitability by culling product portfolio, redesigning organizational processes and improving product consistency. * Guided organic farmer’s reentry into value-added consumer products business by creating new products, redesigning packaging and managing distributor sales channel as needed from January 2008 through February 2010. Product we developed together won critical acclaim in the New York Times. Distributor channel sales rose 39%. Chocolate: * Led San Francisco area chocolate manufacturer’s product development efforts over 8-year period, developing and launching several nationally acclaimed products. Managed consumer brand strategy, market research, package design and pricing as needed from January 2004 through September 2011. * For FiN-S Food, conducted primary research into consumer preferences for assorted chocolate brands, correlating color, aroma, texture, taste and finish attributes with like/dislike preferences. Wine: * Re-structured Napa winery’s product portfolio to increase sales and profitability in the US market.
