Summary
I am the CEO and Publisher of Global Press, an award-winning organization that produces ethical, accurate global news. I founded Global Press in 2006 with a vision to create a new model for international journalism that prioritizes dignity, diversity, and transparency. With over 19 years of experience in the media industry, I have developed a unique set of competencies that enable me to lead the business and editorial sides of Global Press. I am an expert in local journalist security, and I created the industry-leading Global Press Duty of Care program to provide for the physical, emotional, digital, and legal security of our journalists. I am also the lead author of the Global Press Style Guide, which promotes greater precision and dignity in global journalism. As an Ashoka Fellow and a Dial Fellow at Emerson Collective, I am part of a network of social entrepreneurs who are dedicated to solving some of the world's most pressing problems. I am also an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University, where I teach a course on explorations of equity in global journalism. I am passionate about empowering local journalists to tell their own stories and to improve the global news industry and change the world. I am the author of Byline: How Local Journalists Can Improve the Global News Industry and Change the World (Forbes 2023), a book that shares the lessons and insights from my journey with Global Press.
