Summary
I am a writer, marketer, and Internet strategist with extensive experience in the online industry since the first dotcom boom in the 1990s. In 2005, I founded the two-time GLAAD Media Award-winning blog Mombian, which I continue to publish. I have also written for numerous other publications about LGBTQ parenting, politics, youth, and education, and have done client work as a writer, editor, content producer, and website producer. In my external roles, I held a variety of positions that have given me a breadth of knowledge across brand strategy, targeted advertising, public relations, client education, internal communications, social media, and online content development, among other areas. I began my career at an Internet startup in 1994, and then spent several years managing marketing and business strategy projects for key Internet services at a Fortune 100 financial firm. I then led online content management and marketing for a nonprofit that focuses on creating conversational communities to drive action towards greater inclusion and diversity in schools and other organizations. My strength lies in having the ability to understand both the marketing and technical components of a project, and more importantly, how they must support each other to build an effective experience for the end user and achieve the business goals.
