Summary
Returning from a fulltime parenting break with a mix of project-based collaborations, consultancy and as-yet-unannounced product development. AI, data standards engineering and graph technology. Open to London and remote-first roles in 2025, Canary Wharf a plus. Most recently I worked at Google as a developer relations engineer (aka Developer Advocate) in their DevRel, Open Source Programs Office, and Data Commons orgs. Primarily I was responsible for running the Schema.org project and Google’s engagement with it. I continue to contribute as a founder at Schema.org, an independent initiative which helps millions of sites to use markup describing e.g. jobs, articles, recipes, events, factchecks, datasets and more. Before Google I've run a small consultancy business, and worked at a variety of interesting places including Joost (early Web-TV startup), the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and W3C, where I helped start the Semantic Web initiative and define their RDF specifications. I also co-created the FOAF project in 2000 - a predecessor to "Linked Data" and one of the first decentralized social networking initiatives.
