Summary
Last week InnerSource Commons Foundation board voted to make me the first Chairwoman of the organisation. I'm super happy that Isabel Drost-Fromm has accepted the President role. Check out all the news at InnerSourceCommons.org ...I left PayPal in August 2018 and joined a small Irish consultancy, NearForm, Ltd in October 2018 as VP of Special Initiatives. In March 2020, I was able to help NearForm secure a contract with the Irish Health Services Executive to build a COVID Contact Tracing App. Our App was publicly released in July 2020 and is today the single most widely used app of its type worldwide. in August we donated our open source code to the Linux Foundation Public Health project, and I became NearForm's representative on the project's board.. As of February 2014 I've joined PayPal as Distinguished Member, Technical Staff - Open Source). I'm working in the CTO organization In July 2011 I founded DaneseWorks, Clients include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Numenta, Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortia and Tagged, Inc. Prior to becoming a consultant, I was CTO of the Wikimedia Foundation (home of Wikipedia). Since 1999 I've been involved in developing and evangelizing the Open Source movement and its attached methodologies: including release of some very key open source projects while at Sun such as Apache Tomcat, OpenOffice.org, JXTA.org, NetBeans.org, GridEngine.org, GlassFish, OpenSolaris and growing interest/participation in the Social Software movement, including implementation and launch of the original java.net and blogs.sun.com. While at Intel I traveled extensively to further evangelize Open Source worldwide, mostly in the Developing World. It was great to see Open Source concepts grow. I'm also co-editor of the book, Open Sources v2.0 and a reviewing editor of the Art of Community, both from O'Reilly Media. Previously I have held long-term positions as Chief Open Source Evangelist at Sun, Software Engineering Manager & Engineering Program Manager at Apple, Project Program Manager and QA Manager on projects also at Apple and later at Symantec (where I was lucky to work with a great management team on an experiment with extreme programming methods that led naturally to Open Source). Specialties: Software Project Management, Software Engineering Management, Developer Community Building, Software License Authorship, Contract Negotiation, Vendor Relations Management
