Summary
I’m especially interested in combining technology and participatory techniques to help individuals interacting in groups, and groups interacting in networks. Increasing trust, social capital, and collective intelligence are the broad goals that I’m after. I have a background in anthropology, urban affairs and sociology; and strong interests in international development, social and business transformation, and the study of intelligence, including intelligent agent technologies and applications of networked intelligence in groups. As an entrepreneur I have experience in business development, marketing strategy, business models, and software development, including designing and inventing social and collaborative software. Some of my previous work involved design of social networking functionality that enables more intelligent brokering of trusted relationships and user-controlled access to private information. I have written several issued-patents related to these ideas. In addition to managing many aspects of starting companies, I also have experience in consulting with software developers and end users. Before that I was involved in international trade consulting and hands-on trade (mostly between the U.S. and the Middle East). And before that I was involved in planning and evaluating social programs.
