Summary

Ed Barrows was an Executive Partner with Gartner Executive Programs. Prior to Gartner, Mr. Barrows has operated as a CIO for over 25 years and was the Application Executive covering all business lines worldwide for Occidental Petroleum Corporation (Oxy). Previously, he was the VP and CIO of OxyChem, the commodity chemical arm of Oxy. Mr. Barrows spent five years as the CIO of Island Creek Coal, Oxy’s coal subsidiary. He ran half of the internal audit function early in his career at Oxy. Mr. Barrows' industry experience has covered most of the energy value chain across: upstream (geosciences, drilling, operations), midstream (trading and transportation, gas processing, for all major commodities - crude, gas, power, NGLs), downstream (commodity and specialty chemicals, petrochemicals) and mining. He has extensive experience in M&A/divestitures, having been involved in more than 50 deals in recent years.
