Summary
Hans is a Senior Manager / Principal Engineer on the Research team at Autodesk and is managing a team that is exploring novel solutions using emerging technology. In his research role, he has developed various alternative input devices. His natural user interface (NUI) research has been prominently featured in the Autodesk Gallery, Autodesk University, Autodesk Technical Summit, Microsoft Professional Developers Conference, and other venues. He is currently researching the use of emerging technologies and how they intersect with Autodesk customers and products. His XR work has been widely viewed and demonstrated in-house, at Autodesk University, TechX, and through customer engagements. When not focused on work, Hans may be found riding his mountain bike, hiking, or backcountry skiing. Or he may be designing and making at the Autodesk Technical Center at Pier 9 where he is qualified on a majority of the equipment including his favorites, the CNC machines (Haas VF 2 SS, Haas Lathe, DMS 5-axis, and OMAX Waterjet). In his past, Hans worked on a variety of core products and projects at Autodesk including AutoCAD, Map3D, and InfraWorks. His start there began with the task of converting AutoCAD’s core from using a bespoke message queue to a modern event driven messaging system. That work is still a successful core part of the platform.
