Summary
Planting rows of pineapples in rural Ghana, I watched business improve people’s lives. Microfinance loans gave female entrepreneurs the chance to build small businesses, like pineapple farms, that advanced their families' lives and their children's futures. I learned so much from them. Since then, I’ve succeeded in building a career across different industries, always building bridges between people and always with the objective of having a positive impact on others. Most recently, I leveraged the power and reach of Canada’s public broadcaster to improve the lives of Canadians through multi-platform journalistic storytelling. Now, I’ve circled back to where I began: small business. But this time around, the businesses are my own. I founded and am growing two successful businesses: the first is a children's toy brand and the second is a sustainability-focused nature stewardship service. Over two decades of varied experience with increasing levels of leadership responsibility lead me to believe more strongly than ever that business can be a powerful force to drive change and make our world a better place. I am committed to lifelong learning and nature connection; I love walks in the woods and beekeeping. What I’m really good at: Bridging between teams. I see the big picture AND mind the details. In other words, I guide people to work together to get it done, right. Whatever IT is. Know the story about the kingdom that was lost for want of a horseshoe nail? That wouldn’t have happened if I was around.
