Summary
Ian Picache was most recently a Managing Director and Chief Analytics Officer at Roark Capital, a consumer-focused private equity firm with $38 billion AUM. At Roark, he was responsible for the department that used data and analytics to help Roark be better investors and drive value in its portfolio companies. Since joining Roark in May 2021, he whole scale rebuilt the function: replaced legacy employees and hired a new team, reconstructed the infrastructure, changed all data that the firm purchases, built a new technology platform, and drove new capabilities that dramatically improved the depth, speed, and accuracy of insights. He and his team became trusted advisors to deal teams as they evaluate new deal opportunities and operate portfolio companies. Ian also served as a member of the Investment Committee. Prior to Roark, from 2012-2021, Ian was the Managing Partner and co-founder of Two Six Capital, the pioneer in applying data science to drive value in private equity – across the life of an investment (due diligence, value creation, and exit). Over eight years, Ian and his team built a distinctive data analytics platform, drawing upon 25 years of intellectual property, academic research, and the analysis of over $160 billion in granular, transaction-level data. The firm was involved in over $33 billion worth of private equity transactions that closed and numerous value creation efforts. PE clients called the firm to generate data-driven insights that improved investment diligence and decisions and informed portfolio company performance improvement. Ian was also on the Advisory Board of the Wharton Customer Analytics Initiative. Two Six Capital was acquired by West Monroe Partners in December 2020. Prior to Two Six Capital, Ian was an entrepreneur and investor. He co-founded and was the sole investor in several ecommerce companies, including the luxury flash sale site Bergine (acquired by Gilt Groupe). Previously, Ian was an investor with Technology Crossover Ventures, Vanguard Ventures and Telesoft Partners. Over the course of his technology investing career, Ian has completed investments in 22 technology companies with 17 IPOs and acquisitions. These investments represent over $413 million of invested capital and achieved realized and unrealized returns of $1.2 billion. Ian began his career at Morgan Stanley in private equity and investment banking groups. Ian received a B.A. in Engineering Sciences and Economics from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
