Summary
I have been sailing around the world and have crossed the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian and Atlantic (again) oceans. I'm joining the AI for Sustainability PhD programme at Southampton University in September 2025. Previously I founded Obscuro, a confidential smart contract L2 network for Ethereum. Earlier, as the Chief Engineer of R3, I helped design Corda, a strong-identity distributed ledger platform for financial services, and sat on R3's executive and risk committees. I was also the first Chairman of the Corda Network Foundation. I was Chief Engineer within Corporate Banking at Barclays, where I designed and delivered core banking systems. Earlier I worked in a Japanese bulldozer factory for 4 years and then co-founded 2 startups, and hold various patents. I was a Chartered Electrical Engineer and hold a degree in Engineering Science from University College, Durham, UK.
