Jeff Moss, President of DEF CON Communications, Inc. Moss is the founder and creator of both the Black Hat Briefings and DEF CON, two of the most influential information security conferences in the world. He is a internationally recognized expert in internet and information security. In 2016 Mr. Moss joined Richemont, a publicly traded Swiss company, serving as a Non-Executive Director and a member of the Board’s Nominations and Strategic Security Committees. Between April 2011 and December 2013 Mr. Moss was the Chief Security Officer and for the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), a non-profit whose responsibilities include globally coordinating and ensuring the security, stability and resiliency of the Internet's unique global identifiers as well as maintaining the root zone of the Internet. This role involved extensive international travel to support the Multi Stakeholder Model of Internet Governance of which ICANN is a leading institution. Prior to creating Black Hat Briefings, Mr. Moss was a director at Secure Computing Corporation where he helped establish their Professional Services Department. He started his professional career at Ernst & Young, LLP in their Information System Security division. Mr. Moss speaks publicly on these issues and has an extensive global network. Mr. Moss graduated from Gonzaga University with a BA in Criminal Justice. Since 2017 Mr. Moss has been serving as a commissioner on the Global Council on the Stability of Cyberspace (GCSC), an international commission to develop proposals for norms and policies to enhance international security and stability and guide responsible state and non-state behavior in cyberspace. In 2013 Mr. Moss was appointed as a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, associated with the Cyber Statecraft Initiative, within the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security.
