John Drury

Summary

John largely dedicates himself to private equity interests with a small group of development and co-investment partners based in New York, London, Lisbon, Mumbai and Sydney. He was most recently a Co-Founder of a Free Space Optics based telecommunications company based in California and the Founder and Chairman of Elephante Group Ltd (USA - Stratospheric based telecommunications and sensor systems) based in Colorado. He is currently Chairman of Porter Drive Partners Inc (USA - syndicate space technology development investing), Founder and Co-Managing Partner of Sumatics LLC (Ajman) and is developing new areas of interest focused on AI security. Prior to this he was Chairman of a leading Icelandic based 3DVR software group and later the Executive Chairman and co-founder of a licensed principal finance and corporate and structured finance advisory firm based in Singapore. Prior to this he was Group Chief Executive of County NatWest Investment Bank (London), a member of the Executive Committee of National Westminster Bank and an original architect and board member of NatWest Markets. Earlier to this he was Senior Executive Director of Capel Court Investment Bank (Sydney) and head of the Treasury of its parent, National Mutual Royal Bank. He was also the founding worldwide head of J. Aron Petroleum, the principal energy trading division of Goldman Sachs & Co. (New York), which under his direction became the leading oil trading group in the world. John spent his early career in Latin America and then with Cargill Inc., in Melbourne, Geneva and New York respectively. John speaks English, Spanish and passable French and owned a seat on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) for six years.
