Summary
Kevin is an early-stage, deep-technology venture capitalist; a multi-time firm builder; and serial board member. With a track record spanning 35+ years of successful investing across storied VC firms, Kevin began his career as an associate at Mayfield, later becoming Managing Partner, raising and leading $4B under management. He went on to seed Mayfield’s first international fund in China, Mayfield China, now GSR Ventures, in 2004. He took GSR to $3.7B under management and to its eighth fund. It is the premier — and one of the first — early-stage tech funds in China and includes such companies as Didi Chuxing, Qunar, Xiaohongshu (Red), Skydio, Meadable, oneNav, Datavisor, Plus.AI, Nimble, Ele.me, FunPlus, AdChina, LightintheBox, Advance.AI. HotMaxx, Convenience Bee. Throughout his career, Kevin has invested in over 54 early-stage companies: 9 of which have gone public and 15 that have been acquired, generating over $1.6B in returns to limited partners and creating more than $13.4B in enterprise value. In July 2023, Kevin joined MVP Ventures as a General Partner to continue his interest in investing in early-stage, deep-tech companies. He remains committed to his GSR portfolio companies. As part of his deep-tech focus, he is also an advisor to America's Frontier Foundation — backed by Eric Schmidt and Peter Thiel, and headed by Gilman Louie. Kevin holds an B.S. in Engineering from University of California, Berkley; an M.S. in Engineering from Stanford University; and an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
