Summary

My career began in the electronics industry, first working in production testing, then moving into production control. This was back in the days when we tracked production runs with a big paper ledger : ) Then one of my friends brought me into the bike industry where I first began to work with the first generation of IBM PCs, and the first generation Macs with little six inch screens. I applied my production control experience to building a database application for job tracking and capacity planning. After that I moved back to Silicon Valley for twelve years as IT Manager for a computer training business which grew from 2 California offices to 24 nationwide. I gained tons of experience with hardware, software and networks, and also built the database application used at each location to manage scheduling, resources and billing. Then it was back to the bike biz as IT Manager at Santa Cruz Bicycles. In addition to setting up IT infrastructure and ERP, I developed systems for QC tracking and documentation, part numbering and product structures, inventory barcoding, etc.. Santa Cruz Bicycles is a uniquely complex, ever-expanding operation, and there are always new challenges on the horizon. After 23 wonderful years at SCB and 46 years working at bicycle and tech companies, I finally retired this year.
