Summary

A (success) recipe consists of several ingredients. To arrive at this recipe, you need to fill in one or more roles (simultaneously or not) ranging from cook, translator, interpreter, coach, preacher, shepherd, liaison officer, ... depending on the phase of the life cycle of the company. If I try to analyze the recipes that I have composed in recent years, I see the following elements always recurring to a greater or lesser extent: - Get clear on what you want to solve. You need a “what will make us win” attitude in everyone's head. - Listen to customers - Help create ideas - Connect ideas - Create structure out of chaos - 1 voice, 1 mission, 1 goal for everyone - Connect people to make 1 team - Look primarily for "what makes us different" rather than "what makes us better than..." - Look from all angles (ideally 720 degrees) - Always have fun and stay positive in all circumstances - Measure results as simply as possible - Show how it can be done, show how it should be done - Always be respectful for any input you get - Embrace change - Be determined, bold and tireless but not stubborn - Start always from the topline - Sell sell sell sell Over the past years these ingredients were brought together in a leadership role in several environments going from start-up, scale-up, corporate company to a public company.
