Andreas Koestler

Summary

What Andreas likes most, is setting up new businesses, preferably in technology and the internet - because this is what he understands best. Through his nice personal network in Europe and South-East Asia, he's sometimes able to fuse together the right people for a startup, a new business idea or a new technology to enter new markets - and even help look for funding, if it's a brilliant, out-of-this-world idea or product. There's just one thing he likes more - playing music as a DJ, which he tries to do, as his weekly meditation and mental refreshment, in secret locations. Form his background, Andreas started as a lawyer, but quickly became involved in advertising, starting at Young & Rubicam Vienna, and later as a VP at the company's European HQ in London. He managed Ogilvy & Mather Vienna, then Y&R's Wunderman Vienna before embarking on his own, when he realised that international advertising agencies are not the one who would conquer the internet in the mid 90s. Andreas co-founded Vienna internet agency diamonddogs, then moved on to Liechtenstein for another startup in the financial sector, 21i.net. Finally, he followed the fascination of Asia and settled down in Bangkok, Thailand, in late 2002. There, he founded and led Yello, an internet classifieds and job advertising site, which quickly operated in 7 countries, from 2005 to 2008 - before falling prey to the financial crisis. Since then, he helped start a renewable energy company and has continuously been advising clients in internet marketing. More an more, he's helping companies and businesses who want to expand to South East Asia - especially in the fields of technology and internet. He's also a bit of an investor, in stock markets as well as private equity. Andreas is married without children and lives with his wife in Bangkok, Thailand as well as Vienna, Austria.
