Summary
My experience includes a varied set of skills including everything from Unix-based development and administration to Windows web development. This experience has been gained through tasks completed in numerous industries including defense, telecom, utilities, semiconductor, geological, manufacturing, and philanthropy. The projects I've worked on addressed such various disciplines as accounting, customer service, engineering, field service, GIS and others. My forte is large system development, performance tuning and troubleshooting, and automating processes. I code in whatever language best suits the problem and, as a result, I've written software in Object Pascal, Jovial, Fortran, Assembly, C, C++, C#, Javascript, Unix shell and various databases and scripting languages. I am a staunch advocate of automated testing through unit tests, functional tests, and automated interface tests. Given the short development cycles between releases of the projects I've worked on, automated regression testing was the only way to ensure the quality of the code given the short timeframes given for development, which usually left little time to test the application end to end. I have architected many applications and understand the process from end-to-end as well as managing the project through the entire development lifecycle of requirements gathering through development, bug fixing, and user accept testing.
