Summary

Hi! I am a former journalist currently focused on thought leadership and customer storytelling at Freshworks, a Silicon Valley-based SaaS company. I also write Masthead at the Margin, a Substack about the evolving career path for journalists. At Freshworks, I bring many of my well-honed skills as a journalist, developing a lineup of great stories that engage readers, then partnering with excellent writers to produce elegant narratives. I work with internal stakeholders to ensure our content delivers by aligning with company messaging and marketing goals. My background is a mix of journalism and entrepreneurship. I am a former columnist for the New York Times, a successful entrepreneur, the author of the Paul Allen biography The Accidental Zillionaire, and a content leader with decades of experience in media and content marketing. I have built or executed content programs for Visa, Procter & Gamble, ServiceNow, Google, Figma, Brex, and more. I am proud to say that my business Street Fight, a media and events business focused on tech and which in part served as a thought leadership platform for tech marketers, was successfully sold in 2017. I also co-founded Recessionwire, and developed Exit Club, which I sold in 2024. As a journalist, I have profiled Fortune 500 CEOs for the New York Times and run digital editorial operations for Fast Company, Inc., and Condé Nast Portfolio.
