Summary
Maggie Orth is currently a technology artist, and a writer and commentator on Technology, Design and the Environment. Maggie Orth has 25 years of expertise in design, technology and innovation. Orth began her design and technology career at the MIT Media Lab, where she pioneered electronic textiles and fashionable computing. After earning her PhD, she went on to found her own company, International Fashion Machines, Inc. There she explored the commercial and creative possibilities of electronic textiles. Orth wrote patents, conducted research, created art and designed products. Orth has lectured extensively about her work to wide range of audiences, including artists, designers, scientists, and venture capitalists. Orth was named a 2007 USA Target Fellow, and featured in Time Magazine as “A Fantastic Fabricator”. Specialties: Sustainable Design, Electronic Textiles, Interactive Art.
