Summary
I’ve worked in the writing, content, and program management industry for many years, including working on diverse and international teams. I’m effective, efficient, reasonable, kind, compassionate, and courteous. I've been called "intimidatingly organized," which I take as a compliment. I like people and I work well with just about everyone. I've had an interesting life (as in, "may you live in interesting times"), so my well of patience and understanding is deep and it's hard for anyone to draw it dry. I excel at * putting together and managing happy, productive teams * coming up with new ideas and creative solutions to knotty problems (the director of software engineering at Bell Technical Operations once told me that I gave him "million-dollar ideas" in my casual conversations with him) * communicating complex ideas clearly and concisely to multiple audiences Although I'm not a programmer, I've studied a number of programming languages, among them Java, C, C++, SQL, JavaScript, Pascal, and assembly. I know something about a number of other languages and systems (such as Go, Ruby, Hadoop, and Spark), plus a tiny bit about functional programming. I coded XHTML and CSS by hand for many years. I've written hundreds of clear, usable software manuals for audiences ranging from end users to developers. My favorite document design and layout programs are InDesign and FrameMaker.
