Summary
I am an engineering geologist with over 20 years of experience with technical work that includes planning, managing, and performing geologic, geohazard, and geotechnical investigations for infrastructure projects such as nuclear power plants, reservoir and tailings dams, water/gas/oil pipelines, LNG terminals, transportation systems, and other critical infrastructure. The primary focus of my work is directed towards addressing geologic site characterization and performing geologic hazard assessments to inform decision making, engineering design, and mitigation. These projects often include desktop and field-based geologic and geohazard mapping supported by subsurface geophysical and drilling investigations. A major portion of my work involves addressing seismic hazards through paleoseismic investigations, site characterization, and site-specific probabilistic and deterministic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA and DSHA). My experience with paleoseismic investigation includes the use of trenching, detailed geomorphic mapping, geochronology, borehole analysis, and seismic reflection and refraction to characterize fault parameters for the purpose of informing seismic source characterization for seismic hazard modeling. My experience with site characterization includes performing shallow seismic surveys to obtain site-specific Vs30 parameters to inform seismic hazard models and selection of design parameters. My work supporting PSHA and DSHA studies includes source characterization for site-specific studies, including SSHAC III hazard studies for nuclear power projects, which I participated in through the role of technical integrator on the seismic source characterization team.
