Mark Beam

Summary

Mark is a future architect, map maker, media and technology theorist, social entrepreneur, artist and author. His passion lies in seeing through the noise of increasing complexity accelerated by technology to develop human scale environments that help make sense of the world. This has led to a wide range of activities, from the formation of companies and investment portfolios, to the curation of cultural interventions, events and experiences that lift up the collective intelligence and genius of communities. Mark has managed billion dollar trading portfolios on Wall Street and impact investment portfolios globally. He leads innovation and design teams addressing complex challenges using comprehensive and regenerative thinking and practices. Often this is done through the creation of “studio-lab environments” integrating the creativity and experimentation of an art studio with the research-driven inquiry and innovation of a laboratory, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, invention and discovery. Buckminster Fuller noted that nature never presents challenges without also presenting the resources to solve those challenges. As information gatherers and problem solvers we are now called to be authors of the story and mythology behind our greatest chapter in history: Earth as Quantum Organism. Driven by existential crises and opportunities, we are re-awakening to an interconnected, entangled understanding of reality giving rise to a new culture of learning and peacemaking through dialogue, and of individual, ancestral and community intelligence driven by human storytelling. Mark is a co-founder of New Minds, SOCAP, HUB Oaxaca, and CATAPULTA!. He has been Maverick in Residence at Kauffman Foundation and an impact investor at Halloran Philanthropies. He has been a Board Member of the Leonardo Journal, the Buckminster Fuller Institute, the Guild of Future Architects, 3LD, and co-founder of One Thriving Planet. He is founder of future architecture studio - beaming.C3 -with C3 Consensus, and Future Architect for Amoofy, enabling the capture, preservation, connection, wisdom and intelligence of life stories.
