Summary
I'm a technology entrepreneur, designer and curator. I currently serve as board chair of an independent peace mediation foundation and am building a new House of Sound in Ii, Finland. For the last six years I served as Artistic Director of Helsinki Festival, the largest multi-arts festival in the Nordics, held every year in late August. From 2015 - 2018 I was CEO and co-founder of Sync Project (acquired by Bose in 2008). Prior to Sync Project I was a Director's Fellow at the MIT Media Lab. From 2009-2013 I was Executive Vice President of design at Nokia, responsible for hardware, user interface and packaging design. Previously I was co-founder and CEO of Dopplr (acquired by Nokia in 2009) and head of design and brand at Blyk, a free ad-funded mobile network. I've served on the boards of WITNESS, F-Secure and Artek. I was born in Finland, but grew up on three continents, in Helsinki, Dar es Salaam and New York where I studied philosophy, economics and music at Columbia University. I play in the band Construction with Nadya Peek.
