Summary
Until April, 2002 I was a Vice President and Director in the Technology and Innovation Directorate of Arthur D. Little, Inc. (ADL), within which I specialized in consulting and other professional services for firms in the TIME (Telecommunications, Information, Media, and Electronics) industries. I have over 25 years of experience in consulting on business strategy and technology-related issues for companies in the telecommunications, electronics, and information systems industries, including equipment and components vendors and service providers, as well as financial investors in these industries, regulators and Government agencies responsible for public policies. My activities have had extensive international and global components, covering markets and competitors in the three principal regions of North America, Europe, and Asia/Pacific, as well as Latin America and the Middle East. My experience has also been applied to assisting firms in industry sectors outside TIME which are grappling with strategic and operational issues raised by their participation (current and planned) in markets on a global scale. I was educated in England, Germany, and the United States and hold a doctorate in physics from the University of Oxford. I have lived in the United States and several European countries, and speak English, French and German. I speak and publish regularly, and am quoted in the business and trade press on issues affecting the communications and information industries. I have co-authored several books on the uses of information technology. I am a member of the IEEE and the IEEE Communications Society, and served on the Board of Directors of Allen Telecom, Inc., where I was Chairman of the Compensation Committee, until its acquisition by Andrew Corp. in 2003. I recently began working with a new health care-focused consulting company, Konnected Consulting, in a role as ICT contributor. Specialties: Business strategy and market and technology due diligence for suppliers (services and hardware/equipment) and financial institutions operating in the sectors of telecommunications, information systems, consumer electronics and components Extensive experience in markets and competitive analyses in Europe, Asia/Pacific, and Latin America as well as North America Issues of strategy, organization, and operation faced by businesses trying to compete globally
