Summary
When I was young, I wanted to be a Renaissance person -- a polymath who is wide and deep. It's a journey with lots to learn along the way! I believe that the most important skills for an IT professional are communication and a willingness to work with customers to solve their pain. Fundamentally, every problem in IT is to solve a people problem. Along my DevOps journey, I've become very pragmatic -- it's not about the tools; it's about delivering value and finding and mitigating speed bumps. Recently I've been captivated by sustainability in IT -- how anyone engaged in value delivery can affect sustainability, streamline value, and reduce costs. Outside of IT, I am a handweaver, design tabletop board games, roast coffee, read lots of books, and experiment in the kitchen. Specialties: DevOps, Internet Development, Java, Ruby, Unix, Linux, Cloud, Infrastructure, Containers, Mentoring / Team Lead, Public Speaking/Training.
