Summary
Mark brings significant experience in venture capital, investment banking and operations to Silicon Foundry. He has spent over 30 years building, advising, and investing in great technology, media, and ecommerce companies. Most recently, Mark was a General Partner and led US growth equity investment at Partech Partners, a leading transatlantic technology investment firm, with offices in San Francisco, Paris, Berlin and Dakar. Partech invests in digital and tech startups at seed, venture and growth stages. Prior to Partech, Mark served as SVP of Business Development for Wanderful Media to help lead its efforts to grow and serve the audiences of 12 major media companies with local discovery shopping solutions across the web, social, tablets and mobile Previously, Mark was the COO & CFO of ShopRunner, a consumer membership service that provides benefits like free 2-day shipping and returns and instant checkout at 100+ of the best online retailers. Mark was also an early investor and board member of GSI Commerce (ShopRunner's predecessor), where he sat on the board from 2000 until its acquisition by eBay in 2011. Mark was a Venture Partner at Maveron from 2010–2012, where he focused on early stage investments in web enabled consumer companies. Maveron is a leading venture capital firm founded by Dan Levitan and Howard Schultz (Starbucks Founder and CEO). Before joining Maveron, Mark was one of the founding partners at Rustic Canyon Partners, where he worked from 2000 until 2010. At the firm his primary areas of investment were consumer internet, ecommerce, gaming and digital media. At Rustic Canyon, Mark led numerous investments including GSI Commerce, MerchantCircle, and Good Technology. He also previously sat on the board of Marc Ecko Enterprises. Prior to founding Rustic Canyon, Mark was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley & Co. Inc., most recently as principal and co-head of Morgan Stanley’s Technology Mergers and Acquisitions Group, based in Menlo Park, CA. During Mark’s tenure, Morgan Stanley was recognized as the leading technology M&A advisor for three consecutive years, and Mark was responsible for advising on more than 50 completed transactions valued in excess of $150 billion involving clients such as HP, Microsoft, Netscape, VeriSign, AT&T, Softbank and Time Warner.
