Summary
Michael Bor is a C-level Executive and Entrepreneur with nearly 30 years experience in finance, sales, management, and marketing across several sectors as well as business development, mergers and acquisitions, and non-profit management. Michael was the founder and CEO of CarLotz, a high growth start-up that revolutionized the way consumers and commercial vehicle remarketers (leasing companies, banks and financial institutions, and large dealership groups) sell their vehicles...at retail versus wholesale. Michael founded CarLotz and raised over $400m over five rounds of angel, seed, traditional bank, specialty finance, and institutional capital (both equity and debt) to grow the business. In 2021, CarLotz became a public company through a SPAC merger and traded on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol LOTZ. Under Michael's leadership, CarLotz was on the INC 500 and INC 5000 list for several years and grew over 100% in his final year as CEO in 2022. Following Michael's exit from the business, CarLotz merged with SHIFT (NASDAQ: SFT). Michael was also the Founder and Chairman of Orange Grove Fleet Solutions, a commercial fleet vehicle leasing and fleet management company that was a subsidiary of CarLotz. Michael was a finalist in 2015 for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year and was E&Y's Entrepreneur of the Year for the Mid-Atlantic in 2019. Currently, Michael is the founder and Executive Director of The Endowment Project Foundation, a non-profit that is replicating for US public high schools the alumni development and fundraising function that is so commonly used at colleges, universities and independent private high schools. Michael is also a Managing Director at Brightline Capital, a long/short hedge-fund based in Miami, FL and Greenwich, CT. Prior to founding CarLotz, Michael was a Director in the Transportation and Logistics Group at Harris Williams & Co., a leading middle-market Mergers and Acquisitions advisory firm, where he worked for 7 years. Prior to Harris Williams, Michael was an investment banker with Lehman Brothers and a financial fraud investigator with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Michael's experience includes long-term assignments in New York, Tokyo, London, and now Richmond, VA where he currently lives. Michael serves on the Boards of the Sheltering Arms Foundation and Naborforce and on the Finance Committee of the World Pediatric Project. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS cum laude in Finance from Lehigh University.
