Summary
My background and skills make me a rare fit with today’s real estate market. Real estate is a very angular business. Acquisition pricing, competitive positioning, unlevered real returns and barriers to entry matter a great deal. The current dislocations have created one of the best opportunities I have seen to invest in US real estate in the past 25 years. Being able to add value to real estate through operations, repositioning and innovation will be critical in this cycle. The economic slowdown that was starting to happen pre COVID, combined with the COVID pandemic and the more recent social unrest will create disruptions, changes and opportunities throughout the business and real estate universe. I have been fortunate to have had diverse experiences in the real estate and technology worlds that provide me with a platform of expertise that match well with what I am seeing in US real estate today. I have extensive skills in managing and growing operational real estate. I can both identify opportunities and build/lead teams to execute on those opportunities. My time at Goldman Sachs as a real estate investor provides me with a deep understanding in valuation and analysis of real estate investments as well as an extensive Rolodex in the real estate world. My Stanford engineering background provides me with a foundation that has allowed me to have spent a career solving complex problems. I have extensive experience acquiring assets, leading teams, growing businesses, developing strategy and building brands. My recent experience with the Aspen Club restructuring and bankruptcy have given me direct insights into processes and strategies to execute on for the coming wave of distressed and bankrupt properties. Contrarian thinking, creativity and the detailed ability to execute are going to be critical in this real estate cycle.
