Summary
Michael Fox is a senior strategist, rainmaker, implementation expert and thought leader who identifies unseen value and has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to monetize operational value. A consummate networker, he has built a world-class circle of influential executives in the startup ecosystem, the venture community, and most importantly, with corporate partners and service providers. Michael’s unique non-linear approach to discovering opportunity puts him in a position to both realize value and mitigate risk. By combining his three key skills of applied critical thinking, bartering in relationship equity, and building extensive trusted networks, he has successfully identified, built & unlocked value. Currently, Michael is a senior advisor for the business school of Institut Teknologi Bandung in Indonesia ("the MIT of Indonesia"). Previously, Michael was the SVP of Corporate Development, founding Venture Partner and “Venture Consigliere” for Green Prosperity, a Chinese holding company for which Michael established its US presence in Silicon Valley. Michael co-architected their Venture Fund strategic plans that brought capital, operational value, domain knowledge, deal flow, and access for their portfolio companies to achieve their goals commercializing China’s external innovation & monetizing it in the local market, while simultaneously protecting the international IP. Previously, Michael built Corporate Development and led strategy from inside Mitsubishi Electric’s President’s office. Michael was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence for a $5B fund where he personally increased the valuation of one of the portfolio companies from $50M to $300M in just five months. prior, during his tenure at SONY, as a senior member of the VAIO team & grew the SONY monitor business 40% in the first year alone. Michael was an adjunct professor teaching entrepreneurship in the MBA program in Design Strategy at California College of the Arts in San Francisco (4 years), advised startups, and also taught graduate entrepreneurship workshops in Holland at Tilburg University (3 years). Michael is an internationally recognized speaker. Michael is a thought leader in the corporate venture community. In 2015, he also established a US presence as the “Silicon Valley Emissary” for London-based Global Corporate Venturing, which supports the global corporate venture capital community. Michael is an active member of the MIT Alumni community in Northern California and has been an MIT Venture Mentor for 14 years (Cambridge & Silicon Valley).
