Summary
Micki Kaufman is a digital project director with over 20 years' experience leading media and software development projects. She is currently a doctoral candidate in digital history at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). Her current dissertation, “‘Everything on Paper Will Be Used Against Me:’ Quantifying Kissinger” is a seven-time winner of the CUNY Graduate Center’s Provost’s Digital Innovation Grant. She is a co-author of “General, I Have Fought Just As Many Nuclear Wars As You Have,” published in the December 2012 American Historical Review. In 2015, Micki was awarded the ACH and ADHO’s Lisa Lena and Paul Fortier Prizes for best Digital Humanities research presented by an emerging scholar. She also served as Director of Information Systems for the Modern Language Association from 2015-2016, and from 2015-2017 she served as a Virtual Fellow with the Office of the Historian at the US State Department. in 2018 Micki served as a Biography Dissertation Fellow at the Leon Levy Center for Biography, and served 2017-2019 as an elected member of the Executive Council of the Association for Computers in the Humanities (ACH). Micki has a proven track record of leading successful large-scale design, migration, visualization, software, and technology projects, especially involving data-driven analysis, content and publication. Micki is expert at leading diverse teams to create high-demand, high-recognition sites, software and content across a range of industry verticals. In addition, she is an accomplished film composer and recording engineer, having co-composed the score for films appearing at the Berlin, Sundance, Tribeca and Frameline film festivals, including the Teddy Award-winning film “Concussion (2013)” and the Platinum award-winning album “Live From the Fall (1996)” by Blues Traveler. In 2024 she was awarded first prize in the Synquanon Songwriters’ Competition for her composition, “Everything is Alchemical.”
