Summary
I've spent 20+ years honing my skills and expertise in various domains of a Corporate IT and technology. Being part of ups and downs of the global economy, I was blessed with a chance to experience work challenges from small and dynamic technological startups to large global financial giants. I found myself on opposite sides of the IT spectrum - from fine tuning a single server to designing a 500+ server network infrastructure. From complaining about corporate policies to contributing to the new ones. Fought the fight to manually secure Windows 95, then ended managing department's IT Security, Risk, and Compliance. Worked in most lifecycles of ITIL, got firsthand experience with all kinds of IT Compliance and System Audits; at times got a chance to learn and understand exciting new technologies: from Statefull Firewalls (yes, back in time that was radical new concept) to Web Application Firewalls that are all the hype in recent years; from IDE to Fiber Channel NAS and SAN. Firsthand learned how important well thought processes are and how to encourage and enforce the use of established best practices and standardized solutions. Spent time on both sides of the stick - made sure to successful pass audits, but also audited others. Learned the fine craft of finding optimal balance between "perfect" and "optimal", expensive "can do all" and "just sufficient" solutions that still fit the budget limitations. New technology comes and quickly gets replaced with something newer and better. After seeing it all and doing most of it, all comes to people doing the task at hand - how motivated are they, how willing are they to do that extra step, how to keep them engaged, how to make them empowered. If I have to pick one aspect of my career that I feel proud the most, with no hesitation I'd say that to be the time I spent managing people, the time I spent making the Team more cohesive, more responsible and more responsive by getting team members enjoy what they do.
