Summary

I've been building products and companies as long as I can remember, but the first with any scale was when I was a teenager. I built a soccer news media site, got acquired into another startup, rolled-up a bunch of others, went through a reverse merger to go public as Teamtalk, and hit $160m runrate with a little over 350 employees. That was all in about two sleepless years. From there I was part of the early team at MIT Media Lab spinoff Ambient Devices, a pioneering "internet of things" company that designed products sold everywhere from the Museum of Modern Art to Radioshack. Although a visionary company that lived for over a decade, it never quite broke through to be a large public company. They can't all work out, but I still believe firmly in hardware companies as well as the future of IoT. After that was founder and CEO of Conduit Labs. We were a venture-backed early social gaming company and after achieving rapid growth three years in we sold the business to Zynga and I joined as General Manager. I was then GM at Zynga through the IPO. Following that I left to get back to the startup ecosystem at Spark. I've been a General Partner since then, founded the west coast office, and have been investing in creative tools, marketplaces, frontier tech, ai, and generally products that are deceptively complex to run but magically simple to use. Being at Spark is so different from building, but I love the opportunity to be in service to founders and their mission. TLDR: I've worked at scrappy small scale, in hyper-growth mode, and at large public company scale several times over the last couple decades as a CEO, COO, and head of product. I now spend time with my fine friends here at Spark Capital partnering with ambitious founders out to build amazing things.
