Summary

Holding a master's degree in architecture and over 20 years of experience in commercial architectural and interior design, I have expanded into other disciplines harnessing my bilingual and bicultural skills that are directly people-oriented. My professional aim is to serve as a bridge to connect Japan with the rest of the world. In my work as a freelance writer interpreter/translator, I have core skills in the subject of sustainable architectural design, permaculture design, and civil engineering and also deliver top-quality translations and research skills for a wide range of projects--from documentary filmmaking, natural healthcare publishing and workshops, corporate PR and branding, art theory, community building, public figure interviews, tourism promotion, to historic preservation, Zen religion, kintsugi, and the culinary arts. Clients include Apple Inc., Architectural Record, Toda Corporation, the Mori Art Museum, Vienna Secession, NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation), Roses for You Films, the National Archives of Modern Architecture, Shinkenchiku-sha, Neten Inc., Inax Museums, Cookpad, and author/philosopher Charles Eisenstein. My commitments to change also lead me to volunteer for activist organizations such as NGO Japan for Sustainability, NPO DOCOMOMO Japan (International Working-Party for Documentation and Conservation of Buildings, Sites and Neighborhoods of the Modern Movement), as well as promoting the concept of inclusivity for people with disabilities, and also have experience in coordination, production, and interpretation for artist/filmmakers/directors. I collaborated on the concept development for and complete translations of three separate independent documentary films and English translations of two books: one on natural health care from the viewpoint of an acupuncturist/Chinese medicine practitioner and the other on the new science of water and the potential of new water technologies. My current translation is a book on the discovery of a group of megaliths known as Japan's Stonehenge. Other interests: Permaculture, ecovillages, poetry/vocal expression, human rights, peace activism, community building, child-centered education, grassroots activism, natural health, natural farming, back-to-the-earth sustainable living, and consumer empowerment
