As the Founder of The Farrington Group, a privately held consulting firm, Peter provides advice to management, boards and investors on political, legislative, and regulatory risk. Areas of activity include patents, copyrights, AI, cybersecurity, broadband, precision agriculture, nuclear fission and fusion energy, and export/import controls. Peter co-founded Markup LLC to modernize and improve the workflows of lawmaking and policy development processes. Markup harnesses AI, machine learning, natural language processing and other data techniques to automate the analysis, comparison, and collaborative composition of laws and regulations. Peter’s career began in 1993 as an Internet lawyer in his hometown of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and broadened in Silicon Valley as head of global government affairs for Netscape and eMusic.com and in business development and sales for Securify, investors, and startups. Then he specialized in Washington, DC, lobbying on patent reform for Intellectual Ventures. Next Peter created solutions to the systems of lawmaking by creating software and a company called Markup. Peter is a graduate of Lehigh University and Villanova University School of Law. Peter’s wife Shelby Perkins is a grape grower and winemaker in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA of the Willamette Valley of Oregon.
