Summary
For 20+ years, I've worked at the intersection of business, technology, public service, and investing. After spending the first part of my career in management consulting, I pivoted to national security in the wake of the 9/11 attacks on the U.S. In 2010, I started focusing on early stage private equity investing to complement longstanding public equity investing (I was early in AMZN, TSLA, and WBVN, the latter being a total failure). After moving to Hong Kong in 2013, I went on sabbatical to focus full time on early stage investing, primarily renewable energy as well as IT startups. Given the rise of China in our Pacific Century, I also returned to school to obtain my masters in international relations at the University of Hong Kong, graduating with distinction in 2021. Specific investments include solar and biomass systems in Japan, Taiwan, and Vietnam; water filtration/purification systems in India; commercial energy control systems in SE Asia; small modular reactor (SMR) nuclear plants in Canada, and a variety of software startups including patient safety platforms for hospital systems.
