Summary
For fifty years, Richard Gingras has led highly-regarded efforts in the development of online services, software, and new media. These endeavors range from pioneering uses of satellite networking for television, the first applications of television signals for data distribution, both pre-Web and Web-based online services, and the creation of various platform technologies. Over the last several years Gingras has focused his attention on the transformation of the media ecosystem. Gingras is currently Vice President of New at Google. In that role he guides the strategy of how Google surfaces news to it's users on Search, Google News and smart devices. He also leads Google's effort to support the news ecosystem with an array of tools and capabilities -- from the AMP Project for building a fast web to Subscribe with Google to drive reader revenue and building machine-learning based tools for journalists. Gingras also represents Google in the global policy sphere as countries consider evolving Internet public policy.
