Summary
Trying early retirement now. So far so good. If I get too bored, might return to the work force. But for now, enjoying a break from it all. Most recently at Veritas Technologies as software architect and primary developer of the NetBackup Assessment Toolkit (NBAT). I am an expert Unix systems programmer. NBAT enables Veritas and Veritas Partner field-facing staff to efficiently analyze customer NetBackup installations. NBAT Value : directly impacted over $1.2B in sales since inception in 2014. $100-150M annually in labor cost-savings and sales impact. Also led several other strategic software projects, including NBSU Maintenance, NBSU Analysis, and Veritas API driven reporting - other key utilities used by Veritas Technical Support and Partner Support. At Cisco Systems, my main role was senior Unix Systems Administrator administering hundreds of core IT infrastructure Unix systems. I also designed and developed many Unix systems and application programs in 'C', Perl, and very advanced shell software programs in support of IT initiatives. In addition to my sysadmin duties, I also led/managed many IT projects including three data center moves. I was the HP & Sun account liaison for all HP & Sun purchasing & interaction. I led the global design and deployment of several strategic IT initiatives - HA Clustering solutions, Veritas VCS, HP Service Guard, Platinum Autosys, HP Openview ITO/OPC, Spectra Logic Alexandria, Disaster Recovery solutions, EMC Storage standardization, Solaris standardization, and Veritas VxVM/VxFS standardization. The Air Force is where all my education and experience started - and where I worked on incredible DOD-wide software engineering projects at Langley AFB and Scott AFB. And did truly fascinating scientific work at Wright Patterson in 3D and 4D graphics. It was an honor, joy, and privilege serving my country where the Air Force taught me what I love to do the most in life - code ! In all my jobs I led several disaster recovery efforts (at Cisco, in the Air Force, and Veritas customers).
