For 35 years I have been managing companies and leading teams in high technology sectors (Machine Learning, Electronics Systems, Semiconductors, EDA, eCommerce). My experience portfolio includes pre-revenue startups as well as billion-dollar industry leaders. Strategy - Mapping core capabilities to market desires Operations & Finance - managing budgets, negotiations & contracts under startup parsimony. Business Development - Major Account Management (XMOS, Wave, Blaize, Sagence) Systems Architecture - HPC-AI Convergence (Blaize 2020-2021) Conceived, proposed and negotiated a two-stage development program for a government-sponsored HPC-AI convergence program. General Management - $136M Startup Fundraising (Blaize 2017-2021) Tech and commercial lead for Series C&D rounds for an AI systems startup. Follow-on responsibility for relationships with strategic investors as customers. Company Building – created Blaize UK subsidiary in 2 weeks from standing start (Blaize 2018). Hired 35 key employees, formed corporation, secured & equipped premises, negotiated all contracts, and got platform engineering and automotive COE teams up and running. Product Marketing - Spartan-3 Recovery Program (Xilinx 2003-2005) Led team that executed a "make whole" program to switch momentum back to Xilinx after a stalled product launch. Industry Expert - National Security Panel (Xilinx 2004) Represented Xilinx (and the FPGA industry) on a key panel sponsored by the NSA/DOD/CIA regarding risks of malicious design modifications. Industry Standards Participation - Founding member of RAPID and VSIA (Altera & Cadence 1996-1998) Strategic Tech Innovation - Invented the world's largest FPGA, the EPF8050M (Altera 1995) This multi-chip module preceded 3D modules by 20 years. Instrumental in driving the FPGA software tools to the next level of capabilities. Engineer - Invented the JT2000 ThinOx Fluence Tester (National Semi 1987) Conceived an in-fab PC-based test system to measure quality of the 90Å oxide in our EEPROM devices. Shortened the quality loop from 6 weeks to 6 hours, and saved >$250K/month of test scrap costs. Innovator & Inventor - Patents & IP Creation (various postings 1987-present) Though very much focused on the business hemisphere of the tech industry, I remain deeply involved in the science. Authored or been named on 9 patents and hold one trade secret. Early Social Networking - Close to 200 marriages facilitated (Matchmaker 1987-2000) Responsible for 175+ marriages that we know of (likely more we were not told about) in 14 years of operation.
