Summary
For the first half of Sam's career he led marketing, product, and sales for several early-stage startups in CA. Businesses included direct mail catalog, marketing consulting, online media / community, and web-based telecommunications. In 1999 Sam ran Dell’s consumer web site, including operations, content, design, analytics, and P&L management. Sam led Dell through three redesigns, developed Dell’s global online strategy, and grew Dell's consumer online revenue to over $3.5 billion. In addition, he launched Dell's Consumer CRM group, responsible for developing vertical markets, retail marketing strategy, CRM & database marketing programs, Hispanic marketing, three-year plan, customer-centricity strategy, and change leadership program. Sam was founding CMO for Bazaarvoice Inc., recognized as "ClickZ Marketing Innovation of the Year" twice, and Austin's "Best Place to Work" twice. In 5 years Sam helped grow Bazaarvoice to 7 products (7 patets), 500 people, and $50 million revenue, before going public in 2012. Sam was founder and CEO of Mass Relevance, the SaaS leader in social TV and social content integration (the exclusive partner of Twitter and Facebook). In 3 years Mass Relevance grew to 150 people globally serving 300 clients prior to merging with Spredfast in April, 2014. Sam was Co-founder and active Chairman of Clearhead, the leader in data-driven experience optimization, which grew to 100 people in 5 years and sold to Accenture in July, 2017. Sam is currently co-founder and Chairman of Fairworlds, an immersive reality agency/consultancy, co-owner of Texas Drift Academy, and on the boards of Interplay Learning and Axial Commerce. Sam is an original co-founder of Capital Factory (2010), author of two books: "301 Do-it-Yourself Marketing Ideas" and "How to Market With Computer User Groups", and an active investor and advisor to CEOs and executive teams.
