Summary
I have spent thirty years building valuable businesses around innovative technology. I’ve developed complex systems, run sales, business development, marketing and services organizations, co-founded startups, taken established technology companies public and turned around underperforming businesses. My experience has been pretty eclectic; from software in Silicon Valley, to investment banking in London, to industrial systems in China. The common thread, and what gets me up each morning, is a drive to solve high value problems in creative ways using next generation technology: object-oriented development at Accenture, client/server at Sybase, transactional internet systems at USWeb, big data at LogicWorks, cloud-based marketing automation at WebWare, TIPS membranes at Mobius, and chemical-free chemistry at Burst Energies. Diverse experience is invaluable when conventional wisdom begins to break down. A great example is the convergence of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications, robust cloud services and big data analytics which heralds the biggest evolution in transportation since the invention of the automobile. It represents both an unprecedented opportunity for the nimble and innovative, and an existential threat to those unable or unwilling to adapt in time.
