Summary
Well - I like to make things - things that are useful or beautiful. For the last few years I've been working on software which distributes medical image data to physicians; I'm interested in expanding this network to include patients and computer diagnostic programs with the primary control of the data belonging to the patients. Almost all of the software that I've written in the last decade has been proprietary; I'm transitioning to work only on open source projects. Open source is important to me for many reasons: the sense of community; the intellectual stimulation of working with others who are at a higher level; and the integrity of and trust in the software (critical for medical applications). Specialties: Expert in bricolage software construction; friend of many protocols large and small. I'm good at starting and finishing things - Adrian Gropper and I were the founders of AMICAS. I can work in offices, at home, in hospitals, and in basements. It's a good life.
