Summary
I solve difficult problems that involve writing code after thinking really hard. I understand, boil down and clearly explain challenging topics. I work just as well with humans as I do with machines, often multiplying the effectiveness of the team I join. I am a scientist by training, a polymath / artist by vocation, and a social process / collaboration expert by necessity. I published one of the first Ph.D. theses on the social web, in 2003, as well as scientific articles, patents and book chapters on a wide range of topics, including gamma-ray detector simulation, fire propagation modeling, personal knowledge publishing, and wiki usability. As a researcher, professor and entrepreneur, I have spent over a decade experimenting with social tools that boost individual and collective intelligence and investigating the future of work. In the process I have built a wide network of practitioners in that area. I've variously played roles of evangelist, explainer/popularizer, user advocate, connector, event organizer, and expert in the applications of the social web to knowledge sharing and collaboration. I aim to help spread awareness of the potential of social web technologies, and create a literacy of collaboration far and wide, in workplaces as well as in civil society. Specialties: Machine learning, management, computer graphics, VR/AR, social media, weblogs, wikis, knowledge sharing, collaboration, culture tech, elearning.
